In 2008, during “The Year of the Word of God” Don’t forget! As one family of faith across the Archdiocese, we are being invited by Archbishop Gomez to listen to the entire New Testament during the 40 days of Lent, in segments of 28 minutes per day. Distribution of the Catholic Audio New Testament of free MP3 CDs will take place on Sunday, February 14 and at all Masses on Ash Wednesday – the Listening Program Launch Day.
The MP3 – formatted CDs are available in adult and children’s versions. They can be listened to on computers, laptops, iPods, DVD players, and some car stereos. If you do not have access to this equipment, you may wish to purchase a ready-to-use $20 BibleStick containing the entire Catholic New Testament. A set of 16 CDs is also available for $20. The free CD is being provided by Faith Comes by Hearing, a ministry that records the New Testament and distributes it around the world to poor and illiterate people, in their native language. To support the recording of new languages and the distribution of Proclaimers to Catholic missionaries who work with poor and illiterate people in mission countries, we will be conducting a special Second Collection at all Masses on Sunday, March 7.
