Children's Faith Formation (PreK-5th)

Children's Faith Formation

The home is the first school of Christian life and “a school for human enrichment.”
Here one learns endurance and the joy of work, fraternal love, generous — even repeated — forgiveness, and above all divine worship in prayer and the offering of one’s life (CCC, 1657).

In Children's Faith Formation, we worship, learn, and reach out to each other in what is most important: the faith formation of our children! Faith starts at home! We pray you take an active role in nurturing the gift of faith in your children as a family. Raising them to love and follow Jesus and His church is the greatest gift you can give them - one that will remain in their hearts for a lifetime.

At baptism, parents promise to accept the responsibility of training their children in the practice of the Catholic faith... teaching them to keep God's commandments by loving God and our neighbors. To help honor this promise, children should be registered in the Faith Formation Program. The wonderful catechists who volunteer in our program are committed to helping parents form their young children in the ways and teachings of Jesus Christ.

We try to accomplish this through:

  • Encouraging Sunday Mass attendance, deepening prayer life and active participation in liturgical and other ministries.
  • Encouraging life-long faith formation – “womb to tomb”.
  • Enabling a continued growth of knowledge and understanding of the basic Catholic practices
  • Promoting active participation in the Christian community.

Our Faith Formation program welcomes children as young as 3 years old who are potty trained. We form children through 5th grade. For a long time, this program of instruction was referred to as “CCD” (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), and in many places this term is still used. Classes are held on Sunday from 9:15am-10:30am or on Monday from 6:30pm-7:45pm. Please click below for Faith Formation Schedule 2024-2025.

Bringing Faith Formation to Life!

It takes many hands to serve and form the children and youth of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. If you are interested in learning more about ways to get involved, please complete this short survey. And don't forget that if you cannot donate your time and talents, prayer is ALWAYS needed for these ministries. God bless!
