In the John's Gospel, we hear the story of the woman at the well. Jesus crossed social boundaries in his encounter with the Samaritan woman. (Known as St. Photini in the Greek Orthodox tradition.) Samaritans were considered unclean by the Jews. Yet Jesus, a Jew, sought her out in the bright light of midday for all to see. The Samaritan woman was profoundly changed and crossed her own social boundaries to share what she received. To the very people who shunned her, she brought the message of Jesus to them. 'Come see!' she exclaimed. She returned to Jesus with the hearts he was thirsting for so he could give them salvation. We too are invited to be like the Samaritan woman and share the Living Water.
How will you respond to Jesus' invitation? What boundaries will you cross? Is Jesus tugging at your heart to serve His church? Are you wondering what you could do? We have several different opportunities right now and in the near future to help lead hearts to Christ.
